End of the Year-Let's Clean up Shop!

STUDENTs:  Please remember to return all art books and pick up all artwork from the classroom.  Anything remaining over the summer will be tossed unless you have prior arrangements with me!
Notes for Next Year

Thank you for completing your affirmations and suggestions for class!  From what I'm hearing, most Art I students liked their celebrity mash-up portraits the best and wanted to work more with clay and have more time to paint- I think that's a pretty easy fix for next year! (Several of you were disappointed we did not have time to complete our Disney project due to weather cancellations- next year we have a whole unit on Mr. Disney, so hopefully you will all come back for Art II!)

Art II- I really liked your ideas for paintings on a larger scale!  Let's make that happen, too!

Art III and IV had some great suggestions-clay, more detail in drawing faces, working with oil, and my personal favorite- learning to be a ninja.  I'm not making any promises, but let's just say I will take a few ninja-training courses over the summer so I'm prepared come August.

Those of you who went on the museum trip seemed to really enjoy it!  Several of you were hoping to go the Nasher Sculpture Garden as well as the Dallas Museum of Art, so maybe we can do that over the next few years?

There was also a toss-up on how much you enjoyed art history.  Some of you really enjoyed it and wished we could have learned more, while others of you said if you had to learn about another dead artist you were going to tear your hair out.

*Pretty much everyone felt like sketchbook assignments were a waste of time... can't say that will change, but maybe we can make them a more flexible/creative/challenging space for you to stretch your mind?

*Several of you, mostly those of you with larger classes, wanted more detailed instruction.  I am hoping to "flip" our classroom next fall so that you will have access to instruction at home.

Have a great summer, and I will see you in the fall!
